Spending more time on LJNo, I haven't disappeared or lost my love of Criminal Intent. I'm just enjoying "simple" challenges over at LiveJournal's <strong><a href="http://tv-universe.livejournal.com/" target="_blank">tv_universe</a></strong> and on <strong><a href="http://quietfireca.tumblr.com/" target="_blank">Tumblr</a></strong>.<br />
<br />
My current fascination is with Longmire which is going through the cancellation thing just as Criminal Intent did. In the end, NBC sort of made things right there. Longmire, which is owned by Warner Bros and was licensed to A&E, is being shopped around to other networks. I sure hope it finds a new home. I'm posting (almost) daily favourite Longmire screencaps on Tumblr, but I could never repeat what I did for Criminal Intent.<br />
<br />
Here is my just completed Longmire vid. It was assembled pretty quickly by my standards, as an "Inspired by a Song" challenge piece. Although not a song I would normally have chosen, it turned out to be a lot of fun - which tv_universe usually is! Come join us!<br />

At least for one episode - and maybe more if rumours are correct.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEirVf2qXP5kPvbgQ9S9-hnEQdXaVNkAy0f2KkAI7tqyzmzF1ZeUVLCpgJAKud54rxbUQTDjpE0ra6r7Ah9rPpY_AqrbPYAgFAG-9Zj2RcVPKttGt8GqaSO-d-lMPpGgQsXGdYkr-x8N15Y/s1600/GorenEamesUmbrella.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="227" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEirVf2qXP5kPvbgQ9S9-hnEQdXaVNkAy0f2KkAI7tqyzmzF1ZeUVLCpgJAKud54rxbUQTDjpE0ra6r7Ah9rPpY_AqrbPYAgFAG-9Zj2RcVPKttGt8GqaSO-d-lMPpGgQsXGdYkr-x8N15Y/s400/GorenEamesUmbrella.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
TV Line reported that Kathryn Erbe will be bringing Alex Eames to Law & Order: SVU for one episode. Alex is now with Homeland Security. But Goren. Where is my Robert Goren?? That might have to be left up to our imagination. Ah, well, as my friend Susan would say, he is always in her heart. I think a lot of us feel that way, but as usual, she says it perfectly.<br />
<br />
Here is a link to the <strong><a href="http://tvline.com/2012/08/14/kathryn-erbe-law-order-svu/" target="_blank">full article</a></strong>. This just made my day!Quietfirehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07233938418619592640noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4140065606725329145.post-65066888482514670372012-05-10T22:12:00.000-07:002012-05-10T22:48:44.627-07:00Criminal Intent meets Person of InterestOver the past months I have become more and more invested in <strong>Person of Interest</strong>. If you follow my YouTube channel, you know exactly where my "fan"tasies are!<br />
<br />
Well tonight, <strong><em>No Good Deed</em></strong> 1.22 was the penultimate episode of the <strong>PoI</strong> season and I knew it was time for a blog post.<br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj2ftp0diMt0F5QDwi99IjIjl1x36jLfYNEHeLsag-SCgzw5dWMPeDRNEgvkQif3-IfZDuKRCMigkstz6FCzMj__sgsflBIlBHMZ9SG7isJAdcgQmmolD3ahfxateYvmGaAiqmN977_ztc/s1600/Finch.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="282" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj2ftp0diMt0F5QDwi99IjIjl1x36jLfYNEHeLsag-SCgzw5dWMPeDRNEgvkQif3-IfZDuKRCMigkstz6FCzMj__sgsflBIlBHMZ9SG7isJAdcgQmmolD3ahfxateYvmGaAiqmN977_ztc/s320/Finch.jpg" width="320" /></a><br />
One of the stars of <strong>Person of Interest</strong> is Michael Emerson - he is Harold Finch. Here is an actor that always lands on his feet. <strong>Criminal Intent</strong> fans know him as the unforgettable Gerry Rankin in <strong><em>Phantom</em></strong> way back in Season 1 in 2002. Oh, my, that's a long time ago! He's the guy who had Goren running and almost blew his kids away. Like I say, unforgettable. It's taken me a while to get over the bad guy taste in my mouth that he left me with.<br />
So that would be the first <strong>PoI </strong>connection to <strong>Criminal Intent</strong>.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhlf0Xxu_sZj_alWll2kBR7eZfXkItT9QF9gypg_hANrFfiFwde3hec6nr34SQwVJ0cefWSCcrs7eWCYUDyk1lZi3CwLCha7vu_d-4YweMOfFwJ45_DR-BO_UeBYkFWzgFXVqnv58FixyU/s1600/elizabeth-marvel_alicia_corvin.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhlf0Xxu_sZj_alWll2kBR7eZfXkItT9QF9gypg_hANrFfiFwde3hec6nr34SQwVJ0cefWSCcrs7eWCYUDyk1lZi3CwLCha7vu_d-4YweMOfFwJ45_DR-BO_UeBYkFWzgFXVqnv58FixyU/s1600/elizabeth-marvel_alicia_corvin.jpg" /></a></div>
Another face that has cropped up more recently, in three episodes so far, is actress Elizabeth Marvel. In <strong>PoI</strong>, she is Alicia Corwin and it seems both Finch and Reese know her, but we don't know if the other knows it. <br />
<br />
For the <strong>Criminal Intent</strong> Fans, Elizabeth Marvel was Sylvia Moon in <strong><em>Art</em></strong>, Season 1 (2001) and then again in Season 5, <strong><em>Prisoner</em></strong> (2005) as Jenny Hendry.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div align="left" class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiIlMQuwoRuVZ2IEBhdMxE_h5xFFiGfZ4c3AhuXHn_7mC7Ge26lWAN3XWDW2aIyfJMF8RDMIZHDuLlf3c8vlJ558HDYwtesL8C0ExBn-2wjawZayTWI4L60GgPLJpNcp-1KlAAWcDFkvpg/s1600/MarkSnow_MichaelKelly_1.15.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="166" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiIlMQuwoRuVZ2IEBhdMxE_h5xFFiGfZ4c3AhuXHn_7mC7Ge26lWAN3XWDW2aIyfJMF8RDMIZHDuLlf3c8vlJ558HDYwtesL8C0ExBn-2wjawZayTWI4L60GgPLJpNcp-1KlAAWcDFkvpg/s200/MarkSnow_MichaelKelly_1.15.jpg" width="200" /></a></div>
Now I really cannot tell why I like Mark Snow. This is from the scene where Carter sneers at him as he walks away. He is really being a threat to our favourite PoI man. However, if we're lucky, he's dead. But he's such a charming bad guy!<br />
<br />
Michael Kelly was in <em>Boots on the Ground</em>, S10 of <strong>Criminal Intent</strong>.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
There were two shocker appearances in tonight's episode that had me squealing!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhbq1ZpN_DjNEbMDzZr9MNejSh9fVb9o8hZ5LBMXPLJO4dW6HJzUMZCFw8Rh1Z8a-qhTtkQTjqrdBqAPN5aNyGdd0DcCDbyaP9F2ygj3xNHR1rOs0LHmrBYoBGwOt491sDMrJVSmSF1zLc/s1600/CarriePreston2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"></a></div>
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhbq1ZpN_DjNEbMDzZr9MNejSh9fVb9o8hZ5LBMXPLJO4dW6HJzUMZCFw8Rh1Z8a-qhTtkQTjqrdBqAPN5aNyGdd0DcCDbyaP9F2ygj3xNHR1rOs0LHmrBYoBGwOt491sDMrJVSmSF1zLc/s1600/CarriePreston2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="244" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhbq1ZpN_DjNEbMDzZr9MNejSh9fVb9o8hZ5LBMXPLJO4dW6HJzUMZCFw8Rh1Z8a-qhTtkQTjqrdBqAPN5aNyGdd0DcCDbyaP9F2ygj3xNHR1rOs0LHmrBYoBGwOt491sDMrJVSmSF1zLc/s320/CarriePreston2.jpg" width="320" /></a>Actress Carrie Preston was awesome in three episodes of <strong>Criminal Intent</strong> as <br />
<div style="text-align: left;">
Megan Colby, a small part in Zoonotic (2003); </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Doreen Whitlock, a tragically abused wife, in Magnificat (2004) and as Lena Copeland in Bedfellows (2006). </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Ms. Preston has been cracking me up as a guest star on six episodes of <strong>The Good Wife</strong> over the last couple of years. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br />
But what is even more amusing is that in real life <strong>she is married to Mr. Phantom himself Michael Emerson.</strong> And tonight she played Finch's fiance. How cute is that?</div>
<br />
<br />
And last but not least....<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgTbHQ5yurLLuUBMx5D73g2kaq5St5EdBLkIEm2qRBK97-FGpc5TTuZN1fj0u670nDDW01SPBlCq8sLMNql2b5TPsD9j31IleZcEwVDxL1jiZMxqDJIl1bwB-QNzk81sKYpAXjqSeJ_-Gs/s1600/JayOSanders_1.22.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgTbHQ5yurLLuUBMx5D73g2kaq5St5EdBLkIEm2qRBK97-FGpc5TTuZN1fj0u670nDDW01SPBlCq8sLMNql2b5TPsD9j31IleZcEwVDxL1jiZMxqDJIl1bwB-QNzk81sKYpAXjqSeJ_-Gs/s1600/JayOSanders_1.22.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
The Big Bad Guy trying to eliminate this week's <strong>Person of Interest</strong>, was Jay O. Sanders, who played Captain Joseph Hannah in the final season of <strong>Criminal Intent</strong>, but was really memorable as Harry Rowan in <em>Dead</em> (2002) who was as big and tall and almost as smart as Goren. (Okay, okay! No one is as smart as Goren!)<br />

It's only from watching and hanging out with Criminal Intent types that I ever would have known to look more deeply into what went on during this scene. It was amazing. The analysis is below the video.<br />
If you are receiving this as an email update, please click on the title so you can view the video on the blog.<br />
<br />
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/VFhX7WUizlY?rel=0" width="560"></iframe><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">This is such an amazing scene and I was completely driven to
analyzing it to death.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>If you want the
full meal deal, read on.</span><br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">We don’t know too much about Carol.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>She is very quiet and her emotions are
cloaked in reserved dignity.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>But every time
Daryl opens his mouth, we learn far more about him than the words he’s
speaking.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>He is the bubbling cauldron of
volatile emotions.</span></div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Carol is tenacious, that’s for sure.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>He doesn’t scare her at all. And neither does
walking across a big field at night to talk to him. Really, she has nothing left
to lose, so why not be eaten by a walker?<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>So sad.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I keep thinking the
reality of Sophia’s loss hasn’t hit her yet.</span><br />
<br /><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Their conversation isn’t much of a conversation. He’s just
mad and sarcastic.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>He doesn’t care what
she’s saying, he’s just ready to vent, to insult her, to drive her away. The
comment about sticking her nose in everybody else’s business is just plain
mean.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>And not very accurate from what I
can see. But this is Daryl grieving.</span><br />
<br /><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">When Carol replies “Go ahead”, at first I thought she was
inviting more insults, let him rant and get it out of his system.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I really hope that’s what she wanted, but I’m
afraid she was offering herself up to be hit. Oh, yuck, Carol.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Daryl doesn’t get it, but then after a
second, I’m pretty sure he does.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>To his
credit, he *doesn’t* get it at first.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>Obviously hitting women is not part of who he is. (We know there is far
more behind that façade.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>He’s only shown
it to Carol though, so he’s probably feeling vulnerable around her.)</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Carol stands her ground and says nothing.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>At first he is not focused at all when he
calls her “a real piece of work” and assumes she’s judging him and his
upbringing.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>But she hasn’t said a word.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Then he begins to focus and drill into
her.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>He is cruel. Perhaps part of what
he says is true.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>And still she stands
her ground.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span></span><br />
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Daryl cannot cope with Carol because she didn’t react to
Sophia’s death the way he wanted or expected her to.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Her grief seemed almost non-existent. She
didn’t go to Sophia’s “funeral”, he did.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span></span></div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Maybe the reason Carol went out to Daryl that night was
because she was looking to feel something.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>Anything.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>And she knew that he’d
beat her up – somehow. But I’m not sure about that.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>He certainly beat her up verbally.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I suppose that’s a step above physical abuse.
</span><br />
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Why does he say “You ain’t my problem”?<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Because he wishes she was? Because he wishes
he could comfort her? But he comes completely unequipped to handle the whole
situation.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>For the first time in his
life he felt like part of a family and that has been taken away.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span></span></div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">The most interesting line was “Sophia wasn’t mine” and the
unspoken part of that that came through loud and clear to me was saying “then
why does this hurt so much?”</span><br />
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">He may as well have shot her with an arrow from his crossbow
with his last line which was full of fury. So cruel and unfair. He *knows* they
were always together or Sophia was with Carl. Carol’s head whips back as though
she’s been struck.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Whoa.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Brilliant acting!</span></div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">After that, his expression is way too enigmatic for me, but
he’s watching her like a hawk.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>It’s so
dark, it’s hard to see details in their expressions. Such a shame.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I don’t think there are any tears on Carol’s
face.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>But after she agrees with him, she
heaves an exquisite tiny sob.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Another brilliant
gem.</span><br />
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Of course he cares about her or he wouldn’t have caught her
as she went running to Sophia.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Perhaps
he feels he failed her and seeing her reminds him of his failure.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Maybe he feels un-needed or useless.</span></div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Did either of them get what they needed here?<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I think so. It’s a start.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>And it won’t be smooth.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I can’t wait to see what happens next!</span><br />
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">In case it doesn’t come across in this analysis, I adore
both these beautifully flawed characters! And (for what it’s worth) a huge
thumbs up from me to the writers and fabulous actors Norman Reedus and Melissa

<span style="font-size: small;">This video has been brewing for quite
some time. I really didn't care much for The Walking Dead the first
season. I'm not a big fan of gore however talented the "costume" crew
is. But when that wild man Daryl (if he was a person I met in real life
he would scare me to death) brought the Cherokee Rose to Carol with such a
beautifully eloquent presentation of the story behind it, I sat up
straight and wanted to know more about him. Why does he care, why does
he want to share and how does he know how to tell a story so well?<br /><br />We
know far more about Daryl than Carol, but an amazing bond developed
there, initiated by him. We know from his conversation with Andrea that
he understands being lost, as Sophia was lost, but in his case no one
was looking for him. So he is an abused kid. And if you don't get it
from that, you get it from his flinch when Carol leans over to kiss
him. It's such a foreign concept to be touched with affection.<br /><br />All
we really know about Carol is that she lives with an abusive husband
and has a loving healthy relationship with her daughter. She has faith,
she often appears impassive, but tears will roll down her cheeks giving
away the emotion inside. She is the total opposite of Daryl whose
feelings boil under the surface and he will lash out and move into
"attack mode" in an instant.<br /><br />We get insight into his life and
relationship with his brother Merle when he is hallucinating in pain, an
arrow piercing his side. Their whole culture is based on contempt. I
was left with the impression that Daryl tried hard to live up to Merle's
reputation, but also wanted and needed to be unique.<br /><br />So when I really listened to all of <b>My Skin by Natalie Merchant</b>, I knew this was a match that would work.<br />"<b>Untouchable</b>"
is a repeated lyric. I knew that was perfect for Carol and Daryl, but
Sophia became untouchable after she was bitten - that didn't occur to
me until I was making the vid.<br /><br />"<b>Slow dying flower</b>". Both
Daryl and Carol are slow dying flowers who need saving. I hope they are
sufficiently different in their needs that they can save each other.
Unexpectedly, the Cherokee Rose, which represents hope in Daryl's story,
can parallel the slow dying flower. Carol is ripping them out of the
ground after Sophia's death.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: small;">"<b>Contempt loves the silence, It thrives in the dark, with fine winding tendrils that strangle the heart</b>"
perfectly describes Daryl, especially now that he has isolated himself
away from the group as he grieves the loss of Sophia. I hope Carol gets
through to him and draws him back. She seems determined to do so.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: small;">"<b>Angel sweet love of my life</b>" of course was Sophia. Without her, this song would not have worked so well for these two.</span> i.e. I would have had to do some fancy interpretation!<br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: small;">"<b>Is it dark enough? Can you see me? Do you want me? Can you reach me? Or, I'm leaving</b>"
I have only once worked with clips that were so "fresh" and that was a
instrumental piece of music (Loyalty), so it was stunning that these new
clips just slipped perfectly into place after Sophia's death.</span><br />
<br />
There are three clips included from last night's episode S2E9 and well, that's a whole 'nother subject. In the meantime.... (the lyrics are below)<br />

My Skin - Natalie Merchant<br />
<br />
Take a look at my body<br />
Look at my hands<br />
There's so much here that I don't understand<br />
Your face saving promises<br />
Whispered like prayers<br />
I don't need them<br />
<br />
I've been treated so wrong<br />
I've been treated so long<br />
As if I'm becoming untouchable<br />
<br />
Well contempt loves the silence<br />
It thrives in the dark<br />
With fine winding tendrils<br />
That strangle the heart<br />
<br />
They say that promises sweeten the blow<br />
But I don't need them, no I don't need them<br />
<br />
I've been treated so wrong<br />
I've been treated so long<br />
As if I'm becoming untouchable<br />
I'm a slow dying flower<br />
Frost killing hour<br />
The sweet turning sour and untouchable<br />
<br />
O, I need the darkness<br />
The sweetness<br />
The sadness<br />
The weakness<br />
O, I need this<br />
<br />
I need a lullaby<br />
A kiss good night<br />
Angel sweet love of my life<br />
O, I need this<br />
I'm the slow dying flower<br />
frost killing hour<br />
The sweet turning sour and untouchable<br />
<br />
Do you remember the way that you touched me before<br />
All the trembling sweetness I loved and adored<br />
Your face saving promises whispered like prayers<br />
I don't need them<br />
No, I don't need them<br />
<br />
I need the darkness<br />
The sweetness<br />
The sadness<br />
The weakness<br />
Oh, I need this<br />
<br />
I need a lullaby<br />
A kiss good night<br />
Angel sweet love of my life<br />
Oh, I need this<br />
<br />
Well is it dark enough?<br />
Can you see me?<br />
Do you want me?<br />
Can you reach me?<br />
Or I'm leaving<br />
<br />
You better shut your mouth<br />
And hold your breath<br />
kiss me now<br />
And catch your death<br />
<br />
Oh, I mean thisQuietfirehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07233938418619592640noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4140065606725329145.post-26622843694926735202012-01-12T21:45:00.000-08:002012-01-12T22:44:18.805-08:00Ships in the Night<iframe allowtransparency="true" frameborder="0" id="twttrHubFrame" name="twttrHubFrame" scrolling="no" src="http://platform.twitter.com/widgets/hub.1326407570.html" style="height: 10px; position: absolute; top: -9999em; width: 10px;" tabindex="0"></iframe>So, no, this isn't a Criminal Intent post, but I had to share this vid with anyone and everyone I know in my "fun" life.<br />
<br />
The amazing <strong><a href="http://www.youtube.com/user/TatyanaOracle" target="_blank">TatyanaOracle</a> </strong>created this vid for me as a Christmas present. Tatyana is amazing, her talent is amazing and this video is amazing. Every time I watch it, I see something new, both content-wise and technically. (It took me many viewings to see Erica ghost into view at :49-:51). <br />
If you don't subscribe to Tatyana on YouTube, you should! You'll never be bored as she vids almost anything you'd imagine - except vampires. She has this vampire thing..... vbg.<br />
<br />
I really enjoyed this series - the characters are what kept me coming back every week. Jack and Erica were sometimes like oil and water, but had the same moral center which bonded them. He never lost his focus or moral compass and his purpose was to center her when she was pulled in every direction imaginable. I think I was also charmed that this was filmed in Vancouver and I love spotting landmarks.<br />
<br />
And did I mention this was an amazing vid? Tatyana has shown all the things mentioned in the last paragraph and more. It is a wonderful gift that I enjoy almost daily!<br />

One of the (hopefully) ten vidlets.<br />
I'm pretty pleased with this. Far more shippy than intended.<br />
<br />
The music is amazing: Natalie Merchant - My Skin<br />
I hope someone likes it!! <br />

<span style="color: #0b5394; font-size: large;">Mine, All Mine Awards.</span><br />
<br />
The most heartwrenching moment for me would be a tie between Goren and Hotch. Holy smokes, those were amazing scenes.<br />
<br />
And the Up-Do Award. Well that's a Penelope Garcia slam-dunk.<br />
Amuse yourself! I did!<br />

We had to use someone doing something. Goren is my "someone" and since he often crosses his arms.....
<br />
<br />
The music is Orinoco Flow from Celtic Woman.<br />
<br />
I hope you enjoy this tiny vid!<br />

I really wasn't sure about this, but thanks to the support of havers (<a href="http://havers.livejournal.com/" target="_blank"><strong>havers</strong></a> on LJ and Blog Mom of <a href="http://lovelykathryn.blogspot.com/" target="_blank"><strong>Lovely Kathryn</strong></a>) I'm having a blast!<br />
<br />Because I love making fanvids so much, I'm trying to do them for as many challenges as I can.<br />
<br />My first chance for vidding was the <strong><a href="http://tvrealm.livejournal.com/35696.html" target="_blank">Bingo Challenge</a></strong>:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgNZOlxc12NdGiXm1XpN32Pkfm61P-NFOko8N17MBUGQdMHkSPDNyhDHJfmxq-sRSHqSB6ix2D_OYO6Fae3mQIIh977VfHM39no-HFZsSqWAa-NvcUAw3oQzgWT56z7Aq0bO6k3Hvg0GGjb/s1600/Bingo.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgNZOlxc12NdGiXm1XpN32Pkfm61P-NFOko8N17MBUGQdMHkSPDNyhDHJfmxq-sRSHqSB6ix2D_OYO6Fae3mQIIh977VfHM39no-HFZsSqWAa-NvcUAw3oQzgWT56z7Aq0bO6k3Hvg0GGjb/s320/Bingo.png" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Each participant had to choose a row and a column or a diagonal... you know, Bingo.<br />
So I chose the column starting with <strong>The End</strong> and the row
starting with <strong>Memories</strong>. Don't ask about the abbreviations. I
just don't even want to know!<br />
<br />
Vids have to be over 10 seconds. Not a problem. Making them shorter is a
problem. I hate cutting up the music.<br />
<br />
<strong>The End</strong> had to be
Criminal Intent, from the last scene in the series and it got long enough that
it went on its own.<br />
<br />
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="360" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/L5Kow0ubwjc?rel=0" width="640"></iframe><br />
<br />
So far, along with <strong>The End</strong>, I've done <strong>Just Kiss The
Girl</strong> (twice, once for the column and once for the row),
<strong>Bliss</strong>, <strong>Shine</strong> and <strong>Dress Up</strong>.
Human Target is in <strong>Just Kiss the Girl</strong> and <strong>Dress
Up</strong>. <br />
<br />You give the<strong> Bliss</strong> prompt to a V (2009) fan and there is only one thing you can do with it... You'll find Eames and Goren show up in <strong>Dress Up</strong> - and Eames is wearing the dress that havers now owns - how cool is that?<br />
Enjoy! (only 4 more to go.... only....)<br />

<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;">I was so upset when they wrote Emily Prentiss out of
Criminal Minds!<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I guess it’s a case of
not realizing how much you care about something till it’s gone.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span></span></div>
<span style="font-family: inherit;">When I heard they were bringing her back, I was dancing the
happy dance and it must have been a BIG happy dance - enough to tip me into
vidding a new fandom - and so the months of work began.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span><br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;">My fond thanks to the vibrant Paget Brewster for bringing
the intelligent, feisty and caring Emily Prentiss to life on the screen.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Welcome back! </span></div>
<span style="font-family: inherit;">Hopefully they now know each other’s secrets and Hotch won’t
continue to pay the price for keeping Emily’s from Morgan….<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>What burdens Hotch bears.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span><br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;">I hope this vid is up to joining some very amazing Criminal
Minds fanvids.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I’ve been a fan since Day
1 and have enjoyed every minute of making this vid. It was fun finding clips of Emily with each of her teammates. Some clips were obvious choices, some I fell on unexpectedly, only recalling them when quickly reviewing an episode. I'm pretty nervous about sharing it with hardcore fans!</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;">I adore this song. Video creation happens way faster when I can't get the song out of my head.... And I knew I was spending too much time vidding when I was dreaming about Hotch - and he wasn't even the focus of this vid! </span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;">This video should be viewable everywhere. When you see it anywhere else on YouTube, there is no link to iTunes and I have had no email from YT about using the song.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">

"And our history will never be erased."
<br />
Robert Goren and Alex Eames, Bobby and Alex, however you know them, they were our great companions for most of the last 10 years.
<br />
<br />
This is a request for jclaymate123, who has since closed her YT account. If someone knows her, perhaps they can let her know this vid is here.<br />
<br />
There are 49 episodes included here - hard to believe, eh? I love how Season 10, after the Loyalty hug, is so bright! That wasn't me doing that, it was the production and I though it created such a satisying ending during the instrumental "epilogue". It's like they will go on and on forever. <br />
<br />
There really was nothing new here, except a few kernals of expression that I might not have highlighted before. Sorry about that..... I decided to choose scenes, rather than orphan random clips for this. A 5 minute video was a huge challenge! And yet it wasn't enough time. I need to go back to the series DVDs and watch full episodes for real satisfaction! <br />
<br />
I hope you enjoy <em>Great Companion</em>!<br />

Both Vincent D'Onofrio and Kathryn Erbe have said they'd love to do another season of Criminal Intent, so we'd like to see if we can help that along. How do you join in? Send tie clips and Skittles to USA Network. <a href="http://savinggorenandeamesnow.blogspot.com/2011/06/launching-operation-tie-clips-and.html"><strong>Read about it on this blog post</strong></a>! We've even had the thumbs up from Dick Wolf.<br />

</div><blockquote><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">One of the most popular and my personal favorite of the entire "Law & Order" television franchise, "Criminal Intent" comes to a close this Sunday night after a 10 year run; 7 years on NBC and 3 years on the USA network. Starring the incredible Vincent D'Onofrio as the complex Detective Robert "Bobby" Goren and his partner, Detective Alexandra Eames, portrayed by the equally talented Kathryn Erbe, "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" chronicled the exploits of the NYPD's "Major Case Squad". Goren's skill as a brilliant criminal profiler, coupled with the snarky wit of Eames and a bevy of great guest stars, helped make the show one of the best police dramas ever written for television. </div><br />
<br />
Fans of the show fell in love with Goren's idiosyncracies; the way he would bend his body and lean over suspects to interrogate them; his now legendary, long running battle with serial killer Nicole Wallace, played by Olivia D'Abo; his affection for his mom, wonderfully played by Rita Moreno and the discovery that serial killer William Brady, portrayed by actor Roy Scheider in one of his final performances. D'Onofrio and Erbe's performances throughout these personal story-lines took the series into territories not usually seen on the original Law & Order' or in the other spin-offs like. "Special Victims Unit", "LA", "Trial By Jury" and even "Law & Order: UK". Criminal Intent's popularity would also spawn an international version of the series in France, known as "Criminal Investigations", ('Paris enquêtes criminelles").<br />
<br />
Goren's relationship with his partner Eames is also one of the best on television, well written and handled with care. Their affection for one another is evident, and the way the writers of the show have forged their friendship through the fire of their cases is remarkable. <a href="http://www.blogger.com/One%20of%20the%20most%20popular%20and%20my%20personal%20favorite%20of%20the%20entire%20%22Law%20&%20Order%22%20television%20franchise,%20%22Criminal%20Intent%22%20comes%20to%20a%20close%20this%20Sunday%20night%20after%20a%2010%20year%20run;%207%20years%20on%20NBC%20and%203%20years%20on%20the%20USA%20network.%20Starring%20the%20incredible%20Vincent%20D'Onofrio%20as%20the%20complex%20Detective%20Robert%20%22Bobby%22%20Goren%20and%20his%20partner,%20Detective%20Alexandra%20Eames,%20portrayed%20by%20the%20equally%20talented%20Kathryn%20Erbe,%20%22Law%20&%20Order:%20Criminal%20Intent%22%20chronicled%20the%20exploits%20of%20the%20NYPD's%20%22Major%20Case%20Squad%22.%20Goren's%20skill%20as%20a%20brilliant%20criminal%20profiler,%20coupled%20with%20the%20snarky%20wit%20of%20Eames%20and%20a%20bevy%20of%20great%20guest%20stars,%20helped%20make%20the%20show%20one%20of%20the%20best%20police%20dramas%20ever%20written%20for%20television."><strong>Read the rest of the article here. I had this preconceived notion that Eames was a Daddy’s girl and their relationship was a doting father to his spunky daughter. Of course it might have been that way in the past, but not now.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgIQtoH16sZaNZ1Gb8rKgMBA2ha0um8kB2TLovBx8eWvnMlqMPDveSerCTYwhRsM96nMXVpGlEL8L_trrOSwYwRZbZUSPnqavmw3OfcNjFd35Geh1-eXPJuHKvltvhyphenhyphenqveRl5gDmm6FPm4/s1600/InJELivingRoom.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="348" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgIQtoH16sZaNZ1Gb8rKgMBA2ha0um8kB2TLovBx8eWvnMlqMPDveSerCTYwhRsM96nMXVpGlEL8L_trrOSwYwRZbZUSPnqavmw3OfcNjFd35Geh1-eXPJuHKvltvhyphenhyphenqveRl5gDmm6FPm4/s640/InJELivingRoom.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br />
No wonder Eames is so walled in. I question if she’s ever had any warmth from this father especially when sober. There were no touches, no words of affection. She snarks and he doesn’t notice or chooses not to notice. She might even be holding back... When I see this it explains why she has almost never touched Goren in their 11 or 12 years as partners (just check the <b><a href="http://criminalintentmusings.blogspot.com/2009/03/bumptouch-list-update.html">Bump/Touch list</a></b>!). There are certainly no ODAs (Open Display of Affection) from this woman. I’m starting to think that it’s not just Goren who has survived a difficult upbringing.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh2Th3IDq-mgvBG2g31RK93k9pZHY9e3hivBcZ4odrfA4uQ3VlfdlxKVwLIRU6AMQdTlOj8DLkXwewg03fvaO07-VhxXCcwsgoNf3P67X6saDbiT6WYYR7D3fy1ck8Zmjkxf7kdKSrTodw/s1600/ClosingTheBottle.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="323" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh2Th3IDq-mgvBG2g31RK93k9pZHY9e3hivBcZ4odrfA4uQ3VlfdlxKVwLIRU6AMQdTlOj8DLkXwewg03fvaO07-VhxXCcwsgoNf3P67X6saDbiT6WYYR7D3fy1ck8Zmjkxf7kdKSrTodw/s640/ClosingTheBottle.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br />
We know Eames mother had a stroke, but we don’t know if she passed away or is in a home. Whichever, Johnny Eames is not doing well, unless you regard sitting in his chair drinking and smoking all day a good quality of life. It looks like Alex doesn’t think so – she caps his whiskey bottle and empties his ashtray with a stony expression. I wonder how many times a week she does this? Her demeanor is not that of a child that’s happy to drop in on her parent with a smile and easy conversation. Is she just uncomfortable because Goren is there? I think not. <br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiSCbd4vAiuf-LUfpwPfqcS2V1CWCYLbAkzpeePZXzQMOKdcOQCYU0RpmpPD___vwky6VpvCvUwRD-kW1NQklCC52SeFpvVO5QPyyMz9OwFkdGMT-NZKQDLU-dr-NPGw24L8eZU42DE5CY/s1600/ObservingEames.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="328" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiSCbd4vAiuf-LUfpwPfqcS2V1CWCYLbAkzpeePZXzQMOKdcOQCYU0RpmpPD___vwky6VpvCvUwRD-kW1NQklCC52SeFpvVO5QPyyMz9OwFkdGMT-NZKQDLU-dr-NPGw24L8eZU42DE5CY/s640/ObservingEames.jpg" width="640" /></a><br />
I found it interesting that Alex emphasizes her father's bigotry in front of Goren. We all know Goren is getting tons of information about them both without Alex speaking a word. He watches her fuss around with interest, perhaps even surprise. He appears comfortable in Johnny Eames' home, he may have been there before, but he still refers to him as Mr. Eames.<br />
<br />
Do you think Alex was appalled that her Dad equated Bobby with Driscoll in such an insulting way? <br />
“He’s a monster.”<br />
“But smarter than he looks.” (from Goren)<br />
“Just like you Bobby”<br />
OMG! I think I would have shot my Dad!!! Alex tells her Dad to eat his sandwich…. (and shut up, would be the subtext)<br />
<br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh67gEd0LlJshUStMJXVjvGhqlpP-1s8z2O8wV13NUEuxk4i2le8ozNXdEQZSVkf_40ctWt9pFJIsiCoYANxSGr5quGX47OD56mArEVJskq5gGGCDE19XT3BEDsiKz4i2At5CdNxbQiIWE/s1600/NoGrandchildren.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="330" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh67gEd0LlJshUStMJXVjvGhqlpP-1s8z2O8wV13NUEuxk4i2le8ozNXdEQZSVkf_40ctWt9pFJIsiCoYANxSGr5quGX47OD56mArEVJskq5gGGCDE19XT3BEDsiKz4i2At5CdNxbQiIWE/s640/NoGrandchildren.jpg" width="640" /></a><br />
Do you think it’s the booze talking when Mr. Eames complains about no grandchildren? He seems to have pretty selective memories concerning a certain surrogate pregnancy. That was a horribly cheap shot on his part. Does the lack of grandchildren from Alex reflect on him or does he feel that Alex isn’t complete without children?<br />
Now normally Goren and Eames would exchange glances after a comment like that from a suspect, but Goren looks down before that can happen. And it looks like she isn't going to do the eye contact thing anyway.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg7NugYy424Lq8NZuoo2O3KfWFebNxRbIcjRHm46ZdlWmpc5H0vmm3AhZpQB7n0-rfuJI83CTF4c6bGjOJL6fcY4zucWpQyDn2mcKDk_mHRVlX6w81ZYXMmY43zAF93_Ou-P2JkgNgZItA/s1600/NoGrandchildren2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="340" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg7NugYy424Lq8NZuoo2O3KfWFebNxRbIcjRHm46ZdlWmpc5H0vmm3AhZpQB7n0-rfuJI83CTF4c6bGjOJL6fcY4zucWpQyDn2mcKDk_mHRVlX6w81ZYXMmY43zAF93_Ou-P2JkgNgZItA/s640/NoGrandchildren2.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br />
The best part of this scene was after they left. It was wonderful to see Goren put his own sad history behind to make such a sweet comment praising, supporting and encouraging her with a simple, “It’s good he has you”.<br />
It’s a personal comment so out of the norm for these two that she brushes it off with “Yeah, whatever”. Do you think she realizes how significant his words are? Perhaps not at that moment.<br />
Goren is not the only person with a difficult parent relationship. Maybe he’s taking the opportunity to return some of the quiet non-judgmental support she always provided for him. Good on him! He’s come a long way.<br />
<br />

<br />
To enjoy this vid, Criminal Intent fans will have to get over that Joel Gretsch who plays Jack Landry also played the philandering obnoxious husband, Jason Raines, to Brooke Shield's character in <em>Siren Call</em> (S6E2) -- this character couldn't be more different and if you watch the V series, you forget him quickly. You may recall Jason Raines took a swing at Goren. lol! That didn't turn out so well....<br />
<br />
If you are receiving this as an email update, please click on the title and view the vid on the web. Kinda smug that I figured out a way to make the tears glint.<br />
<br />
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/QoguF2cz698?rel=0" width="640"></iframe><br />
<br />
Jack Landry is faithful to God, to fighting the Visitors and to Erica Evans. Erica is faithful to her son Tyler, to fighting the Vs and ultimately to Jack.<br />
<br />
Jack Landry is a fascinating character with a strong moral compass who speaks his mind. He is sensitive, caring and empathetic. He is the perfect feminine counterpart to Erica's masculine-tough, determined and in-control exterior. They are a wonderful pairing with a joint goal and enormously complimentary skills. He keeps her grounded, she pushes him to his moral limits and circumstances push him even beyond.<br />
<br />
The Jack and Erica relationship is electric at times. There is a good reason Hobbes quips about The Thornbirds in the boxing scene. There exists a huge bond of trust between the priest and the FBI agent. They disagree -- Erica gets right in Jack's face numerous times - but they always come back to each other.<br />
<br />
The biggest shake up to their relationship is after Joe dies and Tyler leaves. Erica becomes emotionally shut down to everything but anger and pushes Jack away. In her devastation and numbness Erica physically turns to Hobbes. Jack understands the kind of man Hobbes is and is crushed that Erica chooses Hobbes. After 12 years as a priest, he is poorly equipped to intervene on his own behalf. If Jack had shown up on Erica's doorstep instead of Hobbes that night or if he'd answered Erica's phone call, we'd have a different story. (Relax Jack, Erica called Hobbes the "break" she needed from real life, not exactly the basis for a deep lasting relationship.)<br />
<br />
About the quote at the end: We'll leave it for Anna to figure out, since she's so hung up on finding the human soul....<br />
<br />
As for Hobbes. Yes, he is a glorious hunk of masculinity. But he has an agenda, mixed loyalties and is basically responsible for Erica's ex-husband's death. He came as a paid mercenary and late to the party. Like Ryan, he was not up-front with his conflicting issues and betrayed Erica and Jack although at the end of Season 2 they are not aware of that yet. He also took advantage of Erica when she was vulnerable. He is not a good guy.<br />
<br />
Thanks to my friend tjara for introducing me to this song. It is brilliant. It is so powerful and I thought it suited this pairing perfectly, although she is not a V fan so will not realize the gem she sent my way!<br />
<br />
This vid is for my friend Susan E. -- a fellow V fan! -- who is having back surgery in a few days. I hope this takes her mind off it for approximately 4 minutes!<br />
<br />

<strong>Faithful Lyrics </strong><br />
(as best tjara and I could figure out!) -- by Cherine Nouri<br />
<br />
There´s a whisper in this place<br />
Like a prayer<br />
Something sacred something true<br />
It´s happening here<br />
We are being blessed<br />
<br />
We are now the chosen ones<br />
You and I<br />
as a silver thread winds down<br />
on the moonlight<br />
Tying me to you<br />
<br />
I will be the one you know<br />
You will be the one to know me<br />
This is love that´s born to be<br />
Forever faithful<br />
<br />
We have touched but never touched <br />
Skin on skin<br />
But I´m closer to you now<br />
Than I´ve ever been<br />
Ever in this love<br />
<br />
I will be the one you love<br />
You will be the one to know me<br />
We will give the love to be<br />
Forever faithful<br />
<br />
Everyday to me is drowned to <br />
The light that´s in your eyes<br />
<br />
Tonight<br />
<br />
And you will be the one I love<br />
The one I love<br />
To know me yeah<br />
And I promise you to be<br />
Forever faithful<br />
<br />
(You will be the one I love)<br />
<br />
You will be the one to know me<br />
And I promise you to be<br />
Forever faithfulQuietfirehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07233938418619592640noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4140065606725329145.post-57799879068356018792011-05-15T23:32:00.000-07:002011-05-15T23:32:57.543-07:00When I Find My Brain, I'll Tell You.Vincent D'Onofrio tweeted during both the eastern airing and westcoast airing of Criminal Intent this evening. And I got lucky (not as lucky as Outerbankschick!), had my question answered and had a good chuckle.<br />

Kathryn/Eames fantasy was to take down Nicole Wallace for Bobby! Now how cute is *that*? It's almost worth having Nicole back for.....<br />
<div style="text-align: left;">The whole air around the show seems to be smoother, more relaxed than ever before - the interaction between the characters is completely in synch. It's delightful.</div><br />

When you're used to Goren and Eames every other week (if we're lucky!) then this is overwhelming!<br />
